Had a scumptious 9-course dinner (alfresco-style) with Toi and family at one of the Taoist temples last night.
All around, the atmosphere was so vibrant!
There was the auction going on in eloquent Hokkein while dinner was served by fervent middle-aged waitresses who couldn't wait to refill your glasses with freshly brewed ginseng tea, 7-up and even Hennessey VSOP.
Dinner was prepared by this restaurant - 建發席館
The disposable chopsticks holder looks so vintage. I like :)
1st dish was 寿桃 (Steamed pink-colored buns with lotus paste fillings)
As usual, I forgot to take picture and scared Toi & family by giving a startled gasp towards the end of the 2nd dish...
This was the cold platter for 2nd dish. I think the Laughing Buddha in the middle of the plate is made of pure sugar???
3rd dish - Sharks' Fin soup
Guess what's the next dish??
Ta-Da...4th dish, Roasted suckling pig served with not-so-crispy-liao crackers.
This yummy stewed vegetarian dish was the 5th dish for the night.
6th dish: Steamed fish (very fresh!) in oh-so-sweet sauce.
My favourite prawns (yum yum!) was the 7th dish.
It was so nice!!
It was at this point when the wet towels were bundled & strewn haphazardly onto every table.
Haha...another distinct classic
8th dish - Kong Bak with Pau (Braised Pork with plateful of heated mantous) YUM!
9th and final dish was the Almond Longan dessert.
Overall: I Lurved the dinner!

Traditional Chinese (Taoist) Dinner
投稿者 DramaPrincess at 08:30
Bringing you around this little tropical country of Singapore (and sometimes overseas) in search of yummy food!
在这个巴掌大的热带小国新加坡,到底哪里有好吃的东西呢?
你一定会刮目相看的,就让我带你走遍全岛(偶尔离边境不远的邻邦),去探寻美味珍馐吧!
